Our Church Hall Project
Christ Church has no loos, no kitchen, no meeting space other than the church with its pews and a shortage of storage for everything from choir robes to flower arranging materials. Clearly any church must attract new, younger members if it is to survive in the medium term and it is hardly easy to do this if we can offer little in the way of facilities that we all take for granted nowadays.
Our plan is for a hall that could seat about 50 at a pinch but which gives us the facilities we so desperately need - loos, a small kitchen, vital storage and an easily heated flexible space for meetings, Sunday school, after-church socials, choir practices and occasional overflow congregations. It could also be useful for local community groups. By detaching the hall from the church we avoid the difficulties of altering a listed building.
